She provides care for children, teenagers, and women across different life stages, including those experiencing mood changes related to menstruation, pregnancy, postpartum, and menopause. From the earliest stages of her medical training, Dr Hong Lin Feng has been deeply drawn to the field of psychiatry. Her interest was sparked as a medical student, where she not only engaged in clinical rotations but also authored two case reports during her final year of training. These formative experiences set the foundation for her career in psychiatry, providing an early lens into the complex interplay between mind, body, and environment.

Following this passion, Dr Hong embarked on her psychiatry residency in Singapore, which she completed between 2016 and 2020. This period gave her the breadth of training across various subspecialties, and it was here that her dedication to Child & Adolescent Mental Health and Women’s Mental Health truly deepened. Upon completing her training, she joined the Department of Psychological Medicine at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital, where she worked between 2020 and 2025 as a psychiatrist.

During her time at KK Hospital, Dr Hong developed a dual focus in two critical areas of psychiatry. In Child & Adolescent Mental Health, she worked closely with children, teenagers, and families to support recovery and resilience in the face of mental health challenges. She collaborated with multidisciplinary teams, schools, and community organisations, in helping young people navigate mental health conditions. At the same time, she built a strong practice in Women’s Mental Health, supporting women across the life stages; from those experiencing menstrual-related mood difficulties, to mothers navigating pregnancy and the postpartum period, to women facing challenges around perimenopause. She also provided care to women who had experienced pregnancy losses, endured traumatic life events or are undergoing treatment for cancers, offering both medical expertise and a compassionate ear.

Beyond her clinical practice, Dr Hong has always placed a strong emphasis on education, both for herself and for others. She has presented at local and regional conferences, including the Integrated Platform for Research in Advancing Maternal & Child Health Outcomes (IPRAMHO) International Meeting in 2023 and the Singapore-Malaysia Medical Congress in 2024. She is continually expanding her clinical skills, having pursued training in Family-Based Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, Infant Mental Health, Attachment-Based Therapy, and Circle of Security. These approaches strengthen her ability to work not only with individual patients but also within family systems, where mental health challenges often play out in dynamic and relational ways.

Dr Hong is also a passionate educator. She has taught and mentored medical students, psychiatry residents, paediatricians, and allied health professionals. In recognition of her teaching contributions, she was conferred the title of Clinical Assistant Professor by Duke-NUS Medical School. She also served as an Associate Program Director for the NHG Psychiatry Residency Program at KK Hospital in 2025, helping to guide the next generation of psychiatrists in their training and professional development. Beyond psychiatry trainees, she played a leading role in mental health education for paediatricians at KK Hospital and spearheaded a symposium on Child and Adolescent Mental Health in October 2023, bringing together professionals from diverse disciplines to advance shared learning and collaboration.

Research is another area where Dr Hong has made her contributions. She has published on topics central to Women’s Mental Health, including serving as the lead author of “The Postnatal Depression Intervention Program (PNDIP): a 10-Year Review” and “Perinatal Mental Telehealth: A Singaporean Experience Born in COVID-19.” She was also the Principal Investigator of a study titled “How Maternal Mental Health Shapes the Prenatal Journey: Exploring Antenatal Depression from Screening to Intervention.” Through her research, she seeks to improve understanding, care delivery, and policy surrounding maternal and perinatal mental health, translating findings into tangible benefits for patients and families.

At the heart of her work is Dr Hong’s clinical philosophy. Patients and families who meet her often remark on her warm, genuine manner; an approach rooted in deep respect for the person behind the diagnosis. She believes in holistic care that addresses both physical and mental wellbeing, recognising that true healing occurs when patients feel seen and supported as whole individuals. Her extensive work with families has underscored her conviction that recovery is often strengthened by the presence of supportive networks, and she actively engages families in the treatment journey wherever appropriate. Equally, she values patient autonomy, ensuring that care is collaborative and that each person’s voice is central in decisions about their treatment.

Dr Hong’s career so far reflects a balance of clinical service, education, and research; all driven by her commitment to improving mental health care for children, adolescents, and women. By joining Connections Mindhealth, she brings not only her expertise but also her passion for delivering care that is compassionate, evidence-based, and empowering. Her vision is to create a safe, supportive environment where patients feel understood, families feel engaged, and recovery feels possible. With her extensive experience, dedication to lifelong learning, and heartfelt approach to patient care, Dr Hong is committed to walking alongside her patients in their journey toward healing and growth.
